Living over your Head Financially

Paying high interest doesn't add up
In today’s society, new houses, new cars and all kinds of different adult toys are dangled to us like a carrot is to a bunny. Advertisers and marketers have a field day with the average person selling the masses a“dream” to make your life better. Many people chase the carrot and bite it time after time. They never seem to learn their lessons as they get out of one financial problem and find themselves deep inside another. Does this approach really improve your life? Or is it another false victory with strings attached?
There is a saying, “live within your means”. It’s a good saying, and if you can’t at least try.
Living life within the financial capabilities you have at the present moment is important, especially if you have children. Your kids depend on you to have a better future. If for nothing else think of them, because they really don’t care about stature objects like many adults do. In addition, with this behaviour, as the kids grow older you may have a negative impact on them, because of your desire to have the latest and greatest of everything. When they get older they will keep the wheels of debt spinning out of control in the age of the careless spender.
There is nothing wrong with being optimistic about your financial future, and it’s even a good idea to trick your subconscious mind with a few items to bring it closer to fruition, but there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed unless you have the money.

Setting an example to children on fiscal responsibility is important but having some disposable income is also a need for every family. Being careful with money
is not only good for the bank account, but also for your health, because not enough money brings stress. There is nothing worse than stress, it can lead to many health issues and can cause all kinds of problems within a family life. |
What good are expensive cars, hot tubs, giant houses, sound proof music rooms, big ticket high tech items among other things going to be if you cannot afford them? When the bills come in you will be the one paying.
Many people buy items they cannot afford, and almost all of them are not a necessity of life. Priorities are not aligned when this happens. What matters is having enough money to deal with the necessities and then, if you can afford it, approach the idea of getting some of the items wanted. However approach this carefully, because there are hidden costs, for example; expensive cars take premium gas which costs more, the insurance is higher than a normal car, and chances are they break down often costing more in repair costs, not to mention they cannot be serviced just anywhere. Be smart and get a reliable reasonably priced vehicle that can be serviced at almost any location.
Take into consideration all the costs that come with a large purchase. Whether its extra hydro to power the new toys, or increased usage of natural gas that has your gas bill going through the roof, be careful! You may end up spending a high percentage of your pay check or utilities that you did not bargain or budget for.
Do not go into debt for the sake of the ego. At the end of the day do what you feel comfortable with on the inside. Do not do what you think looks good on the outside for other people to see, because when you drive by in your new BMW they may be casually impressed for the moment, only it’s you paying the bill not them. Live within a comfortable mindset, not an aggressive one that must assert their materialistic and artificial world on others when many people really do not care what you have. And if they do, you must wonder if they are worth impressing to begin with, because they are part of the problem, not the solution.
We must find ways to get out of the debt ridden society that we live in, but it’s up to you to
not let your ego drive your mind. Take the wheel back and the ride will go much more smoothly eventually rendering debt a distant memory.
