Imagining the Stream

The sound of water is sublime
These days life can be more stressful than it needs to be, but by using your imagination and visualizing serene circumstances, one can raise emotions, even if you find yourself in a place with little or no space in the city, such as; a cookie cutter yard, apartment with a balcony or a tiny
condominium.
For this meditiation, get a comfortable outdoor chair or a blanket and place it in the best spot in the yard or most preferable location on the balcony. Add a pillow or two, and even a blanket for comfort.
Once you are comfortable, close your eyes and start to focus inwards. Imagine the faint sound of water in the distance. The water starts to calm your nerves and you begin to relax. As you focus more on the sound of the water it appears to get closer. The stream sounds so close now it’s as if it has moved to your location.
With your eyes still closed you imagine seeing the stream rushing by you. The water is so clear you can see the bottom perfectly, even to the tiniest detail of the gravel covering the bottom. Brook trout swim against the current happily coming to the surface and dashing back down. Small minnows scurry above them and flash their green neon colours when the sun shines upon their bodies. The sun reflects off the water making the location feel magical.

Sitting at the side of the brook, you place your hands in the water and cup them together. The water is ice cold startling you at first; slowly you lift your hands to your lips and taste it. It’s so delicious your entire body shudders with joy. The feeling of rejuvenation comes over you and everything in your mind and body feels much more calm.

Not far from the stream a number of trees start to rustle their leaves as the wind passes through them. The leaves aid in creating a trance like state in your mind. You begin to feel sleepy and feel yourself slipping into the dream world. Your eyes start to close in the vision and you steal one last glance at the crystal clear cold water rushing by your side. For a split second you think you saw the fish wink and then you fall asleep into slumber.
Later, you wake up and slowly open your eyes. The stream has disappeared, and you sit up in your chair or upon your blanket and look around. It does not matter what you see because you feel much better and much more relaxed. You get up and go inside smiling to yourself.
In the kitchen you open a bottle of water, add some ice, and drink it down. It’s the best glass of water you have ever had. It feels as though it has completely invigorated and restored your body and mind, almost as if it came from that pure, sparkling stream.
The imagination is akin to having the keys to anything you want. Use it often to create your
fantasy, and help restore creative thoughts thus moving through life seamlessly and happy.
