Egocentric People

Your ego can deceive you
Wherever you go, whether it’s just for groceries, or at a social event, or something else, it’s sometimes fun to people watch.
When you are out, it’s not hard to identify that specific person which puts themselves ahead of everything else. Their ego often arrives five minutes before they do. Whether it’s watching them pop out of their Porsche or BMW, or
observing them looking from side to side on their cell phone, it’s fairly clear that the person wants, and even needs attention, because they feel like they are the center of the universe. It’s even more fun when you don’t know what they drive, how big their house is, what position they have, and how much money they have in their bank account when you engage in normal conversation. They end up getting treated like everyone else, which seems to irritate them to no end.
Interaction with them is awkward at first because they are shifting their attention off of you once they have “sized you up” and are not important enough to talk to or be seen with. Of course, ego driven behaviour is different than normal conduct, and it doesn’t take long to see that they crave more. In their mind they say “don’t you know who I am?”, or “This person isn’t important, why am I talking to them?”, or “I could buy and sell this guy”, or “She must be impressed with my Armani suit, let me flash my Ferrari keys”.
If you are at a social event, soon you see them wandering off talking to someone who is equally as egotistical. They converse like they are old pals, exchange how their latest model of car is better than the other guys, and how much square footage is the size of their house. When they leave each other’s company they are scheming how they can have what the other guy has to be better than them. It appears they are just never satisfied with what they have which usually incudes their spouse if they are married.

Many of these types of people are truly not content. They desire the attention to be happy, and place themselves ahead of everyone else. They likely feel empty inside and are truly missing the boat on what life is all about. Most of them would sell their mother to “stay on top”. Empathy is not high on their lists of priorities, and they are usually the type of people that place anything related to power and materialism on the highest of pedestals.

So what do you do if you run into one of these types of people? Treat them with respect and be yourself. Humility is important and displaying a great sense of humour will help the time go by nicely and you may even rub off on them positively in the process.
What ego driven people really need is love, and to stop and smell the roses. They need to
come back into themselves and realize that they are not bigger than the world, and that everyone is here to have a life experience. They have so many layers of self-importance that it’s hard to dig through them to get them to understand. To them, they simply cannot place a value on something that can’t be seen or measured tangibly.
In our materialistic world, somewhere along the lines these people lost touch with who they really are. The feeling of more and more power is absolute in their world and they have a hard time accepting anything less. One item that egocentric people need to know is that when they drive by in their car, go into their giant house, or make a decision that negatively affects the lives of potentially thousands of people because of their desire to gain more power, that whatever they do will be done unto them.
That’s right, it may not be in this life time, but it will be in the next. Call it cause and effect.
Life is a series of experiences and each life has a number of their own. Reincarnation is not
some witch doctor’s idea of what life is all about, and it may not be mentioned much in the various religious contexts, but within spirituality it’s something that is widely accepted. Mentioning this to people that don’t understand this, causes anger and confusion and finally disbelief.

They simply do not want to come back as the maid, the abused woman, the elderly parent not appreciated and so on. And who would want that? Thus they perceive that reincarnation simply cannot be true, and even if it is, then cause and effect must be a crock of lies.
|
What if it isn’t a crock of lies? What if you do come back as the opposite of what you were to experience life from that point of view? Would you start to behave differently and respect all people the same way regardless of race, religion, culture and sex knowing that you would be in their shoes?

Each life experience is fairly short. Why not make it a good one for everyone involved? You may be surprised to know that all people have dreams they would like to achieve and that’s there is no such thing as “a piece of the pie”. The universe can provide to everyone what they wish, it just may not be delivered the way the average person expects it to be, so attention to details is important.
If you are a reasonable person and can empathize with these types of people, help them out, they may yet still get it. However, if you are an ego centric, selfish power monger, and you don’t pull out of your tailspin and awake to the beautiful world around you and help mankind, then you will be in the opposite position next lifetime. Therefore waking up now would be in your best interest.
